From the movie Alexander directed by Ridley Scott.
Not much to analyze. Just a beautiful scene with epic music by Vangelis.
The story goes they were having problems taming this big powerful horse. A clever young Alexander figured out that the horse was afraid of its own shadow, and won the horse by taming it. He named it Bucephalus (meaning ox-head). Bucephalus later became a charger.
and for those keeping track at home. A shadow refers to a concept!!!!
This movie also had an excellent reenactment of the Battle of Gaugamela where Alexander came up with a brilliant strategy to outflank Darius. The battle is still studied in military academies.
I thought the rest of the movie sucked, but it was worth it for those two scenes.

I've always loved this picture and the whole story behind it. Seeing it portrayed in motion is even better. Taming the untamable. Rising above through sheer power of will... tis the entire human story.
